Registry Fix review: Safety, Help & Support

This entry is part 4 in the series In-depth Registry Fix Review

The safety functionality included in a registry clean program is very important. Because you are working with a very sensitive area of your computer, it is very easy to inadvertently damage you Windows installation. In the worst cases, this may cause loss of data, and require you to reinstall Windows and all of your applications.

It is because of this reason that I always recommend that people use professional quality registry cleaners, and not try to clean their registry by hand (or use a free registry cleaner that comes without any type of support if anything goes wrong). In this part of the Registry Fix review, we’ll look at what Registry Fix provides in terms of backup and help and support.

Backup

Registry Fix review: Backup screen

The most important safety feature is backup of the registry. Registry Fix allows you to make a full backup of your registry, and allows you to restore the backup if something went wrong. I found the functionality to make and restore a backup very easy to use, which is to be expected considering the simplicity of the rest of the application. What I would have liked is the ability to make an automatic backup before it did any error fixing. Without this ability, you need to remember to make a backup before every scan and repair.

Help & Support

Registry Fix review: Help screen

The help provided by Registry Fix leaves a lot to be desired. While all of the options are explained, I would have liked a more comprehensive tutorial or guide on exactly how to start, what options to pick, and exactly what each of the options mean. Luckily, Registry Fix provides live chat facility which you can use if you have any questions or problems. I found them generally responsive and helpful.

What I liked about Registry Fix’s safety, help and support

  • Fully featured full registry backup and restore feature
  • Live chat support to provide answers to any questions or problems

What I didn’t like about Registry Fix’s safety, help and support

  • No automatic backup
  • Help system leave a lot to be desired

Conclusion

Registry Fix has the most important safety element that in my mind no registry cleaner should be without, namely registry backup and restore functionality.
While I would have liked the ability to do automatic backup and restore, it is not that big of a problem if you just remember to do a backup before you do any major repairing. The lack of a comprehensive help function is made up for by the free live chat support, which should be enough for anything but the biggest problems.

Registry safety, help & support star rating: 3.5/5 - Poor help documentation made up for by free live chat support
